Superstar Rajinikanth was invited as one of the chief guests at the audio release event of Kanguva. Given that Kanguva is the biggest production in Suriya's career, the producers have pulled out all the stops to make it one of the year’s largest film events. However, Rajinikanth expressed regret for not being able to attend in person due to his shooting commitments.
Instead, Rajinikanth sent a heartfelt video message wishing Suriya and the entire Kanguva team great success. He praised the talents of director Siva, who previously directed him in the 2021 drama Annaatthe.
Rajinikanth recounted his admiration for Siva's ability to direct Annaatthe safely within a studio setting, despite the challenges posed by the height of the second COVID-19 wave. Reflecting on their collaboration, he recalled a conversation with Siva that he believes may have inspired Kanguva.
"During the production of Annaatthe, I asked Siva to develop a period film that I would act in. Siva promised he would think about it, and I’m certain Kanguva is the story he developed. He likely pitched it to Gnanavel Raja, who then chose to make it with Suriya. I am sure Siva will make a film for me soon," he shared.
Rajinikanth further lauded Suriya, saying, “Suriya has inherited his father Sivakumar’s discipline, wisdom, and great values. He strives to create films that are fresh and unique, tackling ideas that other heroes might overlook. Even in commercial films, he seeks innovation.”
He shared his best wishes, saying, “I wish for a grand success for this movie.”
Made with a budget exceeding Rs 300 crore, Kanguva is a fantasy drama weaving together the past and future. Featuring Suriya as a tribal warlord, with Bobby Deol and Disha Patani also in pivotal roles, the film is set for a global release on November 15.
