As the release date of October 10 approaches, post-production of Vettaiyan is in full swing.
Rajinikanth dubs for Vettaiyan.
Superstar Rajinikanth has begun dubbing for his upcoming movie, Vettaiyan. Lyca Productions unveiled a glimpse on Saturday of Rajinikanth recording his lines under the supervision of writer-director TJ Gnanavel. He appeared to be enjoying the process and expressed his admiration for Gnanavel's direction. "Director sir, this is superb," Rajinikanth said.
Gnanavel also had Rajinikanth perform his iconic 'villainous' laugh, suggesting the director has drawn a highly energetic performance from the actor. With just over a month until its scheduled release, post-production work is racing toward completion.
Rajinikanth filmed Vettaiyan at breakneck speed. Even though the film began production at the start of this year, the team moved swiftly to wrap up this massive project. Rajinikanth shot continuously for over 100 days, with only short breaks in between.
Vettaiyan is a crucial project for Lyca Productions, which has faced a series of flops, leading to financial difficulties for the company. This film is expected to provide much-needed financial relief, and Rajinikanth worked diligently to meet his commitments and ensure the movie's timely release.
In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth plays a cop. There is speculation that the narrative centres on encounter killings and the intentions and consequences behind them. Gnanavel's previous film, Jai Bhim, was a critical and commercial success, praised for highlighting the evils of caste discrimination and the dehumanizing effects of police brutality. Similarly, Vettaiyan is expected to be a gritty police procedural with plenty of Rajinikanth moments to satisfy fans.
One of the highlights of Vettaiyan is its ensemble cast. Besides Rajinikanth, the movie also features Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan, among others.
Vettaiyan is set to hit cinemas on October 10.
