Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu expressed his delight on Saturday after receiving a personal phone call from Superstar Rajinikanth, who praised the director's recent film The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT).

"Thank you, Thalaivaaaa!! for the call and for embracing our #GOAT with so much love. Thanks again for appreciating wholeheartedly. Forever grateful, sending you all the love," Venkat tweeted.

Rajinikanth, known for his love of cinema, often reaches out to the cast and crew of movies that leave a strong impression on him. Currently recovering from a recent medical procedure , the superstar appears to be catching up on new releases during his downtime.

The GOAT, after a successful theatrical run, became available for streaming on Netflix earlier this week.

Interestingly, Thalapathy Vijay, a self-confessed fan of Rajinikanth, also showcased his admiration during the release of Vettaiyan. Known for enjoying star-studded films in local theatres, Vijay attended the first day, first show in a Chennai theatre to experience the fan frenzy, discreetly using a mask to blend in.

The GOAT was a major release, marking Vijay's first collaboration with Venkat Prabhu. Released with high expectations, it saw mixed box office success. While the film reportedly cost Rs 400 crore to produce, it grossed around Rs 450 crore in ticket sales. Despite the modest profit margin, the film earned Rs 100 crore for stakeholders in Tamil Nadu alone, setting new benchmarks in the region. Thanks to strong pre-release revenue from audio, streaming, and satellite rights, the producers were in profit even before its theatrical debut.
