The praises for filmmaker Nithilan Swaminathan don't seem to be stopping. Superstar Rajinikanth is the latest high-profile member of the Tamil film industry to extend his appreciation and congratulations to Nithilan over Maharaja

On Friday, Nithilan shared photos of his meeting with Rajinikanth at the latter's residence. He also expressed deep gratitude for Rajinikanth's appreciation of his work.

"Dear Superstar @Rajinikanth sir, thank you for the charismatic meeting. It was like reading a novel of life, experience, and understanding of the way of living from the golden hands of Kollywood. I am awestruck by your hospitality and humility. I am touched to know how much you loved 'Maharaja.' Once again, thanks and long live Thalaivar," Nithilan wrote on his social media pages.

Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, Maharaja opened in cinemas in June to mostly positive reviews. The film is a revenge drama that explores the devastating consequences of seeking revenge.

Earlier, Thalapathy Vijay invited Nithilan to appreciate him personally . It is said that Vijay was very impressed with Nithilan's storytelling technique.

Maharaja is a polarizing movie. While some celebrate it as a masterpiece, many have criticized the filmmaker's tone-deaf approach to handling a movie that deals with sexual violence. Many have complained that the narrative lacks nuance and sensitivity. The film has also been accused of using sexual violence to justify the violence committed by men.

On the other hand, Nithilan has become the toast of the town, with the who's who of the Tamil film industry praising his talent. Maharaja became Vijay Sethupathi's first movie to gross more than Rs 100 crore in global ticket sales.

Maharaja is now streaming on Netflix.
