Superstar Rajinikanth was discharged from Apollo Hospital in Chennai late Thursday night after undergoing treatment for a heart condition. Hospital sources revealed that Rajinikanth was treated for a swelling in the aorta, the primary artery that carries blood from the heart. The issue was addressed through a non-surgical, transcatheter procedure, a minimally invasive approach chosen to ensure a quicker recovery.

The 73-year-old actor had been admitted earlier this week for the elective procedure, which doctors confirmed went smoothly without complications. He has been advised to rest at home for three weeks before resuming work.

Rajinikanth is expected to rejoin the sets of Coolie after his recovery. The film's production is ongoing in Hyderabad, with director Lokesh shooting scenes with other actors until Rajinikanth's return.

Coolie features an ensemble cast that includes Telugu superstar Nagarjuna, Kannada star Upendra, veteran Tamil actor Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. This marks Rajinikanth's first collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj, a director known for combining action with engaging storytelling.

Meanwhile, another Rajinikanth starrer, Vettaiyan, written and directed by TJ Gnanavel, is set to release on October 10, coinciding with Puja celebrations. Gnanavel, who made waves with his debut film Jai Bhim, explores the contentious issue of police encounters in Vettaiyan. The method of shooting down criminals deemed uncontrollable by the law is a controversial topic. For years, such violent police operations have been glamorized on the big screen for entertainment. However, it seems Gnanavel is poised to offer a fresh perspective on the subject.

In Vettaiyan, Rajinikanth plays a celebrated encounter specialist, who is tasked with protecting the reputation of the police department by tracking down and eliminating a fugitive suspect.

Vettaiyan also boasts a stellar cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.
