Keerthy Suresh’s latest drama Raghu Thatha has finally set its OTT release date after an average performance at the box office. Directed by Suman Kumar, the film marks the directorial debut of the celebrated screenwriter. Following an underwhelming theatrical run, the film is slated for its digital debut on September 13, 2024, on Zee5. The OTT platform announced the news on social media, writing, "Oru pakka family entertainer. Mark your calendars! #RaghuThatha will be streaming from September 13th only on ZEE5 in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada."

Headlined by Keerthy Suresh, the Tamil drama is set in the 1980s and revolves around patriarchy and the protagonist’s fight against the imposition of the Hindi language. Keerthy Suresh’s character, Kayalvizhi, is an upper-division clerk who is both a feminist and an anti-Hindi activist. This political satire also marks Kannada production house Hombale Films' first Tamil project.

In addition to Keerthy Suresh, the film features MS Bhaskar, Devadarshini, Ravindra Vijay, Anandsami, and Rajesh Balakrishnan in key roles. Sean Roldan composed the music, while Yamini Yagnamurthy handled the cinematography. Editing was done by TS Suresh.

Theatrical reception of Raghu Thatha

Raghu Thatha was released on Independence Day, August 15, 2024, clashing with the Vikram-starrer Thangalaan and Demonte Colony 2 at the Tamil box office. Upon its release, the film received mixed reviews. While Keerthy Suresh’s lively performance was praised, the screenplay was criticized for being sluggish. The film’s box office performance was further impacted by the competition from successful films like Thangalaan and Demonte Colony 2, leading to average business. The film will now be available for OTT audiences soon.

Keerthy Suresh is set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Varun Dhawan in Atlee’s production venture Baby John. She will also star in K Chandru’s directorial Revolver Rita and Ganesh Raj's Tamil drama Kannivedi. Additionally, she will share the screen with Radhika Apte in YRF’s OTT series Akka.
