After a long wait, Dhanush’s 50th film, Raayan, is finally in cinemas. The movie, directed by and starring Dhanush, is the actor’s second outing as director after his 2017 directorial debut, Pa Paandi. Raayan, a gangster drama, has an ensemble cast that includes Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Dussehra Vijayan, and SJ Suryah in key roles.

Many X users hailed Dhanush for creating a spellbinding gangster thriller, which is being praised for its engaging screenplay. One user wrote, “Even though it's a normal revenge story, Director #Dhanush has excelled with his writing & execution. Interval Block, many scenes in the second half, and the climax song are peak theatrical moments.”

Although viewers enjoyed the performances of all the actors in the film, it was Sundeep Kishan’s performance that stood out. The Telugu star, who is sharing screen space with Dhanush for the second time this year (after Captain Miller), seems to have outperformed in this Dhanush directorial. “Always a fan of Sundeep Kishan’s natural performance. In the star-studded #Raayan, he gets a meaty role and completely nails it,” one comment read.

SJ Suryah as the antagonist shines in the film, according to moviegoers, who feel that he has given yet another spectacular villain to Kollywood audiences. “SJ Suryah was a powerhouse in #Raayan,” one user wrote.

Besides the lead cast, AR Rahman’s music has been celebrated by audiences, who have heaped praise on the composer’s impressive score.
