Raayan, Thangalaan postponed AGAIN? Fans are angry!

Tamil cinephiles have been waiting eagerly for months for the release of 2 biggies–the Vikram-starrer Thangalaan and Dhanush’s Raayan. Raayan was initially scheduled for a worldwide release on June 13, while the makers of Thangalaan have not made any concrete announcements regarding its release date. However, recent reports indicate that the releases of both films have been pushed further to July.

Raayan and Thangalaan's releases postponed?

According to the latest sources, Raayan is rumoured to have a theatrical release on July 26, 2024. The new speculated release date is particularly special since it is on the same week as the leading man and director Dhanush’s birthday (July 28). If the reports are true, fans can expect to watch Dhanush’s most anticipated 50th film in July. An official announcement from the production house, Sun Pictures, is awaited.

On the other hand, Vikram and Pa Ranjith’s period-action film Thangalaan has been postponed several times since the beginning of the year. The movie was initially scheduled for a January 2024 release but was postponed to April 2024. Now, the release date remains unclear and fans are getting angry with the producers for the delays.

A Vikram-Dhanush box-office clash?

Rumours are that the makers of Thangalaan are eyeing a June 20 or July 25 release. However, this has yet to be confirmed. It is worth noting that one of Thangalaan's prospective release dates, July 25, is around the same time as the postponed release of Raayan: July 26. If the makers choose July 25 for Thangalaan's release date, then we could witness a Vikram-Dhanush clash at the box office this July.

Kamal Haasan's Indian 2 release date

Meanwhile, another biggie–Kamal Haasan and S. Shankar’s Indian 2-which is scheduled for a July 13 release, seems to be the only major release with a definite release date announced. With no major Tamil releases scheduled for June, fans are hoping that at least the Kamal Haasan-starrer gets brought forward to June. However, according to sources, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja is rumoured to be released on June 14. An official confirmation is awaited.
