After a fantastic start to 2024 with the success of Captain Miller, Dhanush is all set to mesmerise the audiences with his upcoming biggie – Raayan. Ahead of the film’s grand release on July 26, 2024, the makers of the film took to their social media handles to share an interesting poster of the lead characters from Dhanush’s upcoming directorial.

The new poster features Dhanush, alongside Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan and Dushara Vijayan, who are seen standing together, while looking intensely into the camera. The stars are reportedly playing Dhanush's siblings in the film. The new poster also features all of them holding a bucket, while Dhanush stands tall at the centre, almost appearing like their protector. The poster was dropped as the 1-month release countdown for the film begins on June 27.

The film is written and directed by Dhanush and marks the actor’s second directorial project.

Raayan to get a solo release?

So far, there are no other major releases for Raayan to compete with at the box office, which means the Dhanush-starrer might get a solo release on July 26, 2024. Although Allu Sirish’s Buddy is also hitting the big screens on the same day, there is very little chance of it affecting the business of the Dhanush-starrer. Moreover, another big release, Thangalaan, which has yet to finalise a release date, seems to have been moved to another unspecified date. With Dhanush’s birthday also coming up during the same release week (July 28), fans are eagerly awaiting a special treat!

Besides the lead cast, the upcoming gangster drama also features Prakash Raj, SJ Suryah, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Aparna Balamurali, in prominent roles.

    Raayan plot

As reported earlier, the film revolves around a cook and his family who reside in North Madras. However, things go awry when his past is disclosed – where he was once a gangster who now lives the life of a cook. What happens when his past catches up with him forms the crux of the story.

AR Rahman composed the original background score and soundtrack for the film, while Prabhudheva was in charge of dance choreography. Raayan is bankrolled by Sun Pictures.
