Raayan: Dhanush's 50th movie poised for success

Raayan is a special movie in Dhanush's career. It is his 50th film, and he seems to have taken extra care to ensure it becomes a memorable outing in his filmography. With just a few hours left before the worldwide theatrical release of Raayan, anticipation for the movie seems to be growing stronger.

According to the latest trade sources, Raayan is likely to give Dhanush the best opening of his career. Initially, the buzz seemed a bit low, but the movie managed to turn things around at the last minute.

Raayan has already sold Rs 5 crore worth of tickets in Tamil Nadu alone and has earned more than Rs 1.5 crore in pre-release sales in the Telugu states. This will be the biggest opening for Dhanush in the Telugu states, adding to his growing popularity among movie buffs there.

Dhanush's Sir, his debut Telugu movie, was a huge hit in Telugu. He is now busy shooting for his second Telugu movie, Kubera, written and directed by Sekhar Kammula. His efforts in the Telugu film industry seem to be working in favour of Raayan. Additionally, the presence of Sundeep Kishan in the star cast will also give a much-needed boost in the Telugu states.

Raayan is also gaining a lot of traction in Bengaluru. The film is likely to debut at the Bengaluru box office by grossing about Rs 1 crore in ticket sales. More than 500 shows have been scheduled across the city, including many early-morning shows. Raayan in Bengaluru will start playing in theatres as early as 6 AM, and many special shows have already sold out.

The trends are strong for Raayan, despite the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. If the film garners positive reviews from early morning shows, it has the potential to emerge as one of the biggest hits of Tamil cinema in 2024.

Besides playing the lead role, Dhanush has written and directed Raayan. Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has scored the music, and Sun Pictures has bankrolled the film.
