'Quentin Tarantino vibes': Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy teaser starring Rahul Bhat, Sunny Leone leaves fans intrigued
Written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, Kennedy will have a grand ‘Midnight screening’ at the 76th Cannes Film Festival later this month.
Anurag Kashyap recently left his fans thrilled with the teaser of his upcoming noir thriller Kennedy. The intriguing short clip gives a sneak peek of a dark-gritty world wherein a man is on a killing spree, which gave fans vibes of American director Quentin Tarantino's movies. Starring Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, the film is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 24.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Anurag dropped the teaser with the caption that read, "Bataaaa...kitna maza aaya...yeh teaser dekh ke? (Tell me, how much did you enjoy the teaser?)". The 1.15 minutes long teaser starts with ruthless insomniac Kennedy(Rahul) killing people. Towards the end, Charlie(Sunny) appears and chuckles after looking at Kennedy in the elevator.
Reacting to the teaser, one of the Twitter users wrote, “Watched the trailer muted to remove the effect of sound on the mind. Even then the lighting, the dark shade and the sarcastic chuckle of Sunny Leone say that the movie is going to be awesome.” The second user commented, “Quentin Tarantino vibes.”, “OG is Back, Indian Quentin Tarantino&Our Anurag Kashyap Is Back,” added another. A fan wrote, “Hi Anurag Kashyap, take my money and inject #Kennedy straight into my veins pretty please, Anurag Kashyap? This looks so whacky and twisted and diabolical.”

Talking about the inception of Kennedy, Anurag stated, “I've lived with the character for a very long time since I was writing for Sudhir Mishra and he used to tell me stories of this mad policeman. Then years later during the lockdown, a headline incident happened in Mumbai and that triggered an idea and I took the cop from Sudhir Mishra's stories and put him around that incident and Kennedy was born.” Bankrolled by Zee Studios and Ranjan Singh & Kabir Ahuja of Good Bad Films, the film also stars Mohit Takalkar, Abhilash Thapliyal and Megha Burman in prominent roles.
