Amid Pushpa 2's blockbuster success, reports and a viral video alleging the arrest of leading man Allu Arjun have been spreading widely on social media. However, the actor’s team has now confirmed that he was taken to Chikkadpally Police Station for inquiry.
According to reports, Hyderabad police detained the actor at his residence in connection with the stampede that occurred during the premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad on December 4. The stampede resulted in the death of a 39-year-old woman, while her son remains in critical condition.
As per reports, the Hyderabad police filed a case against Allu Arjun, the Sandhya Theatre management, and the actor's secretary for failing to notify the authorities in advance about their attendance at the premiere.
Truth behind Allu Arjun’s arrest revealed
The truth behind the arrest reports has now been clarified. The actor’s team stated that he was called by the police to assist with the investigation. An official statement regarding the incident is still awaited.
For the unversed, the stampede broke out during Allu Arjun's unexpected visit to a theatre, leading to the tragic death of Revathi and critical injuries to her nine-year-old son. The massive crowd surged as fans tried to catch a glimpse of the actor, who arrived unannounced along with music director Devi Sri Prasad.
According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, there was a lack of prior notification from the theatre management or the actor's team. No special entry or exit arrangements were made despite their knowledge of the visit.
Police reports state that Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre around 9:30 PM, using the main entrance and spending 15–20 minutes outside. News of his presence spread quickly, drawing hundreds of fans. The situation escalated when his security team attempted to control the crowd by pushing them back.
The victim, Revathi, and her son experienced breathing difficulties amidst the chaos. Police officers pulled them from the crowd, administered emergency first aid, and rushed them to a nearby hospital. Tragically, Revathi did not survive.
Addressing the incident, Allu Arjun expressed his sorrow on social media, saying, "Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident... My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally."
He also announced assistance of Rs 25 lakhs to the woman’s family and committed to covering the medical expenses of the critically injured boy.
