Pushpa 2 Kerala box office collection: Allu Arjun film beats Mammootty’s Turbo to become biggest opener of 2024

    The latest outing Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, has been making huge waves at the box office, conquering the charts to become the biggest opener, dethroning SS Rajamouli’s RRR. Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, and Rashmika Mandanna, revolves around the lead character Pushpa Raj and his tussle with Fahadh’s character. On its opening day, here’s how much the film has earned in Kerala.

    Allu Arjun has a devoted fan base in Kerala, where fans lovingly refer to him as "Mallu Arjun." As expected, the film achieved massive sales and has emerged as the biggest opener in the state.

    According to reports, the Allu Arjun-starrer has become the all-time biggest opener of the year in Kerala by earning more than ₹6.35 crores, surpassing the previous record set by Mammootty-starrer action drama Turbo, which had earned ₹6.15 crores. The film has turned out to be the highest-grossing Telugu film released in Kerala, beating the record previously held by Prabhas and SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

    The Malayalam version opened with an impressive 60.33% occupancy on its opening day, marking huge numbers. The film’s highest audience turnout was from Kochi (72%), followed by Kozhikode (65.50%). Given these numbers, the film is expected to rake in massive collections from the state by the end of its first weekend.

    Allu Arjun, who enjoys immense popularity in Kerala, reciprocated the love he has received by dedicating the song Peelings from the film, which begins with Malayalam lyrics. Arjun shared that this deep affection inspired the special inclusion in Pushpa 2. He explained, “I told Devi Sri Prasad we must create a song to show my love for my Kerala audience. The song Peelings starts with Malayalam verses, and I’ve ensured these lines are retained across all six languages the film is releasing in. This is my tribute to Kerala’s love.”

    In addition to Allu Arjun, Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, features Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist, with Rashmika Mandanna portraying the female lead.
