Prithviraj reveals that Mohanlal's L2: Empuraan will be a sequel and a prequel to Lucifer

Prithviraj has confirmed that the sequel to Lucifer titled L2: Empuraan is currently in pre-production and they will soon announce when the movie starts production.
2019s Lucifer which starred Mohanlal and marked Prithviraj's directorial debut is the highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time.
Lucifer was made on a budget of 30 crores and managed to gross a massive 175 crores at the box office, the movie was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas with a screenplay by Murali Gopi.
In a recent interview, director Prithviraj revealed that the pre-production of L2: Empuraan is going smoothly and that they are now scheduling the dates of their planned international shoots.
He also revealed one plot detail from the movie saying that the movie will both be a prequel and sequel to 2019s Lucifer.
The movie will focus on how Stephen Nedumpally rose through the ranks of the international criminal underworld as well focus on the events that take place after the events of Lucifer.
In the interview, Prithviraj said "Depending on the locations we finalize, we will plan the shooting schedules and decide the timelines. It is because we can shoot in foreign locations only for a specific time period, depending on the weather conditions,"
Since L2: Empuran is both a prequel and a sequel we can expect to see a majority of the main cast of the original which includes Manju Warrier, Vivek Oberoi, Tovnio Thomas, Indrajoth Sukumaran, Fazil, and Sachin Khedekar return.
Prithviraj has also hinted that the movie might have a few surprise cameos from actors from both Bollywood and South Indian industries.
Meanwhile, the actor will be joining the sets of Prabhas's upcoming action thriller Salaar in January.
Currently, Prithviraj is promoting his final movie of 2022 'Kappa' directed by Shaji Kailas, in which he will be sharing the screen with Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, Anna Ben, and Dileesh Pothan.
The movie is a crime drama set in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, and focuses on the criminal underbelly of the city.
Kappa will hit theaters this week on December 22nd.
