Actor Prasanth is quite upbeat about his upcoming movie, Andhagan. Despite it being the remake of a popular Bollywood movie, which is releasing after a long delay, Prasanth is confident about this film striking a chord with audiences. "If the screenplay is good, people will watch it," he said.
Andhagan is the remake of the 2018 Bollywood movie, Andhadhun. The original movie, helmed by Sriram Raghavan, was a big hit at the box office and garnered a lot of critical acclaim. As usual, filmmakers from the Indian film industry rushed to acquire the remake rights. Then the pandemic happened, and in the post-pandemic era, many remakes have failed to perform well in cinemas.
Based on Prasanth's words, he believes that Andhagan will defy this trend. "We have done the best we could for this movie," he added.
Prasanth also revealed that he was not daunted by the rapid changes in the film industry. He noted that the influx of talent created equal opportunities.
"I still consider myself a newcomer. Acting is like an ocean, and I am still learning to swim. Nobody can claim they know everything about this craft; there is always room for improvement. Change is the only constant. You have to adapt. Newcomers are better at acting and dancing, so the challenge is how I can match their talents. This motivates me to stay on my toes. My only strategy is to make good movies and hope the audiences like them," Prasanth told Cineulagam.
Written and directed by Thiagarajan, Andhagan also stars Simran, Priya Anand, Karthik, Samuthirakani, Urvashi, and Yogi Babu. Andhagan is due in cinemas on August 15.
