After ghostbuster in Phone Bhoot, Ishaan Khatter has taken up the intense role of a war hero for the upcoming film, Pippa. The much-awaited trailer was finally released on Wednesday and the actor looked promising in the role of real-life war hero Captain Balram Singh Mehta. The short video narrates a thrilling battle of Garibpur during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, which led to the creation of Bangladesh.
The trailer traces the inspiring journey of Captain Mehta(Ishaan) of India’s 45 Cavalry regiment who fought on the eastern front, along with his siblings during the 1971 war. He assumes command over the squadron with the Russian amphibious war tank PT-76(commonly known as Pippa) to liberate Bangladesh. Soni Razdan and Mrunal Thakur play the mother and sister of the Captain in the film. The trailer also shares glimpses of gripping war scenes, leaving netizens with goosebumps.
Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Ishaan wrote, “Pippa created history in 1971 and we can't wait for you to hear its story.” The upcoming film has taken the OTT route and is set to release on Amazon Prime on November 10, 2023. Reacting to the trailer, several users said that the film should be a theatrical release. “Sad that it's not releasing in cinemas,” wrote a user. “This should be in theatre,” commented the second user. “Trailer looks amazing... you should have released it in theatres,” added another user.
The upcoming war epic is adapted from Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta’s book The Burning Chaffees. Directed by Raja Krishna Menon and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s Roy Kapur Films, the film also features Priyanshu Painyuli in a pivotal role. The music by maestro A.R. Rahman has given the music to this story of patriotism and sacrifice.
