What better occasion than the 75th Independence Day of India (August 15) to witness the teaser of the film Pippa? The makers of the movie released the same today and it gives us an adrenaline-rushing true story of the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971. The movie stars Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Soni Razdan and Priyanshu Painyuli. It has been helmed by Raja Krishna Menon.
The film’s teaser begins with then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi announcing war with Pakistan on December 3, 1971, after they had conducted air strikes on Indian airfields. The visuals then shift to Ishaan Khatter who plays a young Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta taking charge of his armored tank squadron which is presumably named ‘Pippa.’ The rest of the teaser then showcases the visuals of Ishaan’s character and the rest of the soldiers of the Indian army fighting bravely in the war against Pakistan. Take a look at the same.
The teaser also gives visuals of Mrunal Thakur and Soni Razdan. For the unversed, Pippa is inspired by true events and the war memoir ‘The Burning Chaffees’ written by Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta whose role is most likely to be essayed by Ishaan Khatter in the movie. The movie tells the story of three siblings set against the backdrop of the action-packed 48-hour Battle of Garibpur, which was fought extensively on the eastern front of India during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Pippa was the name given to the Russian amphibious war tank PT-76 which was used in the war.
