Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir are also set to star in Ratheena's upcoming directorial Pathirathri.
Soubin Shahir and Navya Nair
Following the critical reception of the Mammootty and Parvathy-starrer Puzhu, director Ratheena is all set to helm her next project. Titled Pathirathri, the upcoming film will feature Manjummel Boys star Soubin Shahir alongside Navya Nair.
The project was officially launched today by the makers. The switch-on ceremony for the film was held in Kochi, where all the cast and crew were present. The film also marks the first collaboration between Soubin Shahir and Navya Nair.
Pathirathri plot and cast
The film, helmed by Ratheena, is said to revolve around two cops who get entangled in a chain of events that take place at midnight (hence the title). Besides the lead cast, the upcoming film also stars Sunny Wayne, Shabareesh Varma, and Ann Augustine in key roles. The movie starring Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir is bankrolled by KV Abdul Nasser under the banner of Benzi Productions.
Interestingly, the film marks Navya’s second collaboration with Benzi Productions, who had produced her previous film Oruthee. Pathirathri has a screenplay scripted by Shaji Marad. On the technical front, the film also features cinematography by Shehanad Jalal and music composed by Jacques Bijou.
Soubin Shahir’s upcoming projects
After attaining critical acclaim and blockbuster success with Manjummel Boys, actor Soubin suffered a setback with the failure of his last outing Nadikar alongside Tovino Thomas. The actor will next be seen in Machante Malakha, directed by Boban Samuel. The film, starring Soubin Shahir, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and Namitha Pramod in key roles, is slated for a theatrical release on June 14, 2024.
Apart from Machante Malakha, the actor will also be seen sharing screen space with Basil Joseph in their upcoming film titled Pravinkoodu Shappu. Chemban Vinod has also been roped in to play an important role in this film. The movie is directed by debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan.
On the other hand, Navya Nair was last seen in the Saiju Kurup-starrer Janaki Jaane, helmed by Aneesh Upasana. The film initially hit the big screens in 2023 but failed to attain box office success.
