Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol have delivered many memorable films together as brothers. From Yamala Pagla Deewana to Dillagi, fans have loved to see their brotherhood shine on screen but did you know they were the supposed to be Bollywood’s original Karan Arjun?

The 1995 Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan hit was originally planned to star Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. While Sunny was ok working on the film about two brothers helmed by Rakesh Roshan at first, when his brother Bobby was asked to play the parallel lead, he refused.

The reason behind Sunny’s refusal was apparently brotherly concern. Bobby Deol’s debut film Barsaat hadn’t yet hit the cinemas when the brothers were offered Karan Arjun. The actor who was already an established action star feared over shadowing his younger brother and didn’t want anything to affect his debut which he thought Karan Arjun had the potential of doing.

Well, eventually with both the Deol brothers out, Ajay Devgn was offered one of the parts and he refused. Ultimately it was Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan who played the brothers in the film and it is a pair fans yearn to see partnering together for another full feature film instead of just cameos.

As for Bobby and Sunny, after the former’s debut in 1995, the two did come together for a film in 1999, Dillagi. They played brothers on screen and Sunny Deol was the director.

23rd March 1931: Shaheed, Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana , Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and Poster Boys are some other films that Sunny and Bobby went on to do together. The brother will once again be re-uniting on screen for Apne 2 which also stars their father Dharmendra . Directed by Anil Sharma, the movie has been announced but is yet to go on floors.
