The highly anticipated film Kanguva, helmed by director Siva and starring Tamil superstar Suriya, has received an enthusiastic response from the censor board. Cinematographer Vetri Palanisamy shared that members of the censor board praised the film’s groundbreaking quality and lauded Siva for bringing an ambitious project like Kanguva to Tamil cinema.

"The censor board members were genuinely appreciative of the film,” Vetri said, “and they congratulated Siva sir for attempting a film of this scale in Tamil cinema. In fact, they felt a sense of pride in the movie. They did request a few minor adjustments, which the director was happy to make. But, I’m pleased to say, there were no cuts,” Vetri shared.

Earlier this week, the censor board cleared Kanguva with a U/A certificate, making it accessible to audiences of all ages and setting the stage for a grand release on November 15. Vetri, who has been a longtime collaborator with Siva, expressed excitement over the film's appeal to families, noting Suriya’s broad fan base. “We made this film for everyone, all age groups. Parents should bring their kids to enjoy it together. Suriya is beloved by family audiences, and this is a movie that’s meant to be experienced in theatres.”

At the film’s audio release event, Suriya praised Vetri’s dedication, applauding his work for capturing one of the most visually stunning spectacles in Indian cinema history. Suriya also highlighted that Vetri achieved the visual style using only natural light, a challenging feat given the movie’s medieval setting.

*Written and directed by Siva, Kanguva is the most expensive film in Suriya’s career, with a budget reportedly exceeding Rs 350 crore. This fantasy drama is set in a medieval era, focusing on warring tribes, each devoted to different gods, and the conflicts that arise from their diverging beliefs. The film also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in significant roles.
