Police have cleared Nivin Pauly of rape allegations filed by an actress, concluding there was no evidence against him after a months-long investigation. Authorities submitted their findings, confirming Nivin’s alibi that placed him in India during the time of the alleged incident in Dubai.
“Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by me. Thanks for all the love, prayers, and support,” Nivin said in his first reaction soon after being exonerated.
Reports indicate that police verified Nivin's passport and other records to establish his location during the alleged incident. Nivin was one of six people initially accused in the case. While his name has been cleared, police continue to investigate the other accused.
In September, Oonnukal police registered a rape case against Nivin based on a complaint from a female actor who had previously made similar allegations. Initially, the police concluded there was insufficient evidence for a case. However, amid public scrutiny following the Hema Committee report on sexual exploitation in the Malayalam film industry, they reopened the investigation against Nivin.
When the case first made headlines, Nivin held a press conference to deny the accusations, alleging a conspiracy behind the claims and expressing his willingness to cooperate fully with investigators. Director Vineeth Sreenivasan, a close friend, publicly defended him, asserting he had proof of Nivin’s innocence .
“On December 14, Nivin Pauly was with us. The crew assembled at Nucleus Mall around 7 AM, and Nivin joined by 8 AM. We began shooting a scene with him by 8:30 AM in a theater, with a large crowd present. This information can be easily verified,” Vineeth told Reporter Live, noting that on the alleged date of the incident in Dubai, Nivin was filming Varshangalkku Shesham in Kochi.
