Filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, who recently delivered the blockbuster Jailer with Superstar Rajinikanth, remains tight-lipped about his next directorial venture.

Filmmaker Nelson is keeping the details of his future projects close to his chest. While he seems to be actively pursuing opportunities as a producer, he's in no hurry to rush into his next directorial venture. It appears that he is still basking in the phenomenal success of Jailer, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, which silenced all his detractors following the critical failure of Beast with Thalapathy Vijay.

The industry is abuzz with speculations that Nelson is busy scripting the sequel to Jailer. In a recent discussion with college students, he fielded several questions about his filmmaking style, experiences in show business, and the traits that make a successful director. However, he refused to either confirm or deny any speculation about Jailer 2.

    Nelson to direct Allu Arjun?

"Any update regarding Jailer 2 should come from the producers. I don't own the movie. Right now, there is no update," said Nelson in his trademark stoic style.

Rumours have also been circulating about Nelson being in talks with Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, to which he responded: "I also saw a few stories like that. But, nothing is true until it's been officially announced."

    Missed chance with Alia Bhatt

Nelson spent years directing reality shows for television before venturing into feature films. His debut movie Kolamaavu Kokila announced the arrival of a filmmaker with a strong sense of black comedy. The film was a huge hit and launched Nelson's directorial career in the Tamil film industry. Nelson also revealed that he had plans to expand his footprint in Indian cinema by remaking Kolamaavu Kokila in Hindi, but that plan never came to fruition.

"Actually, I wanted to remake Kolamaavu Kokila in Hindi with Alia Bhatt. But I couldn't pursue it owing to the continued film offers like Doctor and Beast in Tamil. I couldn't even try. I wish to make another women-centric film," he added.

In 2022, Kolamaavu Kokila was remade as Good Luck Jerry with Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role.
