Nani and director Vivek Athreya to collaborate for a comedy drama? Here’s what we know

Nani and director Vivek Athreya’s latest action drama Saripodhaa Sanivaaram has been performing incredibly well at the box office, with the film already poised to cross Rs 50 crore in India. Meanwhile, the duo, who were recently seen together at the film’s success meet, dropped some major news about their next collaboration. 

Nani confirms next film with Vivek Athreya

During his speech at the event, Nani confirmed that he will be collaborating with Vivek Athreya once again, announcing that their next film will be a comedy drama. After striking gold with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, the actor revealed that he would reunite with the director for yet another comedy, following their maiden collaboration on the 2022 film Ante Sundaraniki.

Since the announcement, fans have been excited about the director-actor duo's reunion for a comedy film, as many wish to see Nani in more light-hearted roles. For context, the comedy-drama Ante Sundaraniki, despite not grossing much at the box office, garnered positive reviews from both audiences and critics. Nani was praised for choosing an interesting script at a time when the industry was shifting towards action flicks. When Ante Sundaraniki made its OTT debut, many viewers expressed regret over not watching the film in theatres and shared their desire to see the duo collaborate again on a comedy drama. Now that the announcement has been made official, fans will have to wait patiently for more details about the film.  

Saripodhaa Sanivaaram strikes gold at the box office

Meanwhile, the director-actor duo’s latest action drama, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, has been dominating the Telugu box office. Tollywood, which had been facing a dry spell with a streak of flops, was able to bounce back through the Nani-starrer, which impressed audiences in the Telugu states. Despite tight competition from other releases, such as Thangalaan and The Greatest of All Time in Tamil, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram continues its successful box office run. 

Saripodhaa Sanivaaram stars Nani in the lead, while SJ Suryah plays the antagonist.
