In the wake of Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi's controversial remarks about the Telugu blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD, the film’s director, Nag Ashwin, has finally broken his silence. Warsi recently faced significant backlash after criticizing the movie and its lead actor, Prabhas . Warsi lamented that he had expected a "Mad Max and Mel Gibson" performance from Prabhas but felt that he ended up with a "joker" instead.

The backlash against Warsi's comments was swift and widespread, particularly among fans and members of the Telugu film industry. Many took to social media to defend Prabhas and the film, expressing disappointment over Warsi's statements and accusing him of undermining the efforts of regional filmmakers.

Nag Ashwin, however, chose to address the situation with a call for unity rather than further division. "Let's not go backwards..no more north-south or bolly vs tolly..eyes on the bigger picture.. United Indian Film Industry..Arshad saab should have chosen his words better..but it's ok..sending buji toys 4 his kids..il work hard so tweets fdfs that prabhas was the best ever in k2," he tweeted.

Kalki 2898 AD boasts some of the biggest superstars of the Indian film industry, including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone. The film's second part is expected to arrive in cinemas next year. The film is inspired by the stories from India's mythological epic Mahabharata. It uses sci-fi elements to tell the story of the world's last city and the struggles of those who inhabit it.

Kalki 2898 AD has not only captivated audiences with its impressive visual effects but has also achieved remarkable commercial success, grossing over Rs 1000 crore in ticket sales. This marks the second time in Prabhas's career that a film has crossed this significant milestone.

Currently streaming on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Kalki 2898 AD.
