It's official! Ravi Teja-starrer Mr. Bachchan is all set to hit the big screens soon! The makers of the vintage action drama took to their social media handles to share the exciting announcement and revealed that the Ravi Teja-starrer Mr. Bachchan will have a worldwide release on August 15, 2024.

Mr Bachchan to release on August 15

The makers wrote in the caption, “Waqt pe pahuchne ka apna purana aadat hai…#MrBachchan GRAND RELEASE WORLDWIDE ON AUGUST 15th. Special premieres all over on August 14th. Get ready for MASSive entertainment on the big screens.”

The film will now clash with Ram Pothineni’s Double iSmart and Vikram’s Thangalaan at the Independence Day box office.

For the unversed, Mr. Bachchan is the official Telugu remake of the Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid. Directed by Harish Shankar, the film marks the third collaboration between the actor-director duo after Shock and Mirapakay. The film also stars Yaariyan 2 fame Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead, making her Telugu debut.

From the earlier released ‘showreel’ or teaser, it is assumed that the Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja will be having a face-off with the antagonist, played by Jagapathi Babu. Ravi Teja plays an honest officer who fights corruption. The first glimpse also featured a tribute to Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, and it looks like the filmmaker has made quite a few changes to the original Ajay Devgn film’s script.

Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory, the film has Mickey J Meyer scoring the original background music and soundtracks. Ayananka Bose serves as the cinematographer, having previously collaborated with director Harish Shankar on Duvvada Jagannadham and Ustaad Bhagat Singh.

Mr Bachchan receives flak for odd pairing

Recently the makers of Mr Bachchan faced heavy trolling by netizens over a song sequence. When the first single Sitar Song from the film was released, viewers criticized the issue of a senior actor romancing a young actress. Addressing the age disparity, one comment read, “56-year-old Ravi Teja's sickening dance steps with the 25-year-old Bhagyashree Borse in the 'Sitar Song' from 'Mr. Bachchan'. And the filmmakers don't even care to show the actress' face here because all they want is to objectify her.”

However, filmmaker Harish defended the song and replied to the comment, saying, “Congratulations on the discovery… I believe you should apply for the Nobel Prize. Please continue to objectify filmmakers. We welcome you.”
