Malayalam cinema’s most iconic duo, Mohanlal and Mammootty, are rumoured to be reuniting for a new film project, much to the delight of their fans. The buzz started after Aashirvad Cinemas shared photos on social media of producer Antony Perumbavoor alongside the two superstars. This has led to speculation about an upcoming film featuring both Mohanlal and Mammootty in leading roles.

According to reports, the project will be a joint venture between Aashirvad Cinemas and Mammootty's own production company, Mammootty Kampany. However, an official confirmation is still awaited. If the rumours are true, this would be another collaboration for the actors who are often hailed as the two main pillars of modern Malayalam cinema.

Mohanlal and Mammootty have shared a strong bond since the early days of their careers. Despite being fierce competitors at the box office, their personal relationship has remained unaffected by industry rivalries and has withstood the test of time. The duo has delivered numerous classics together, including Athirathram, Adimakal Udamakal, Paavam Poornima, and Oru Mukham Pala Mukham.

Most recently, they worked together on Manorathangal, an anthology series based on the short stories of the legendary Malayalam writer MT Vasudev Nair. The nine-part series, currently streaming on ZEE5, was well-received, showcasing the actors' enduring appeal.

On the professional front, Mammootty has been enjoying a rewarding phase in his career, with his recent films receiving both critical acclaim and commercial success. His latest release, Turbo, performed well at the box office, grossing Rs 70 crore despite mixed reviews. Meanwhile, Mohanlal is gearing up for the release of several highly anticipated projects, including L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer, and Barroz, which is set to hit cinemas on October 3.
