A private hospital in Kochi issued a medical bulletin on Sunday to update the public on Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's condition. The bulletin detailed that the actor is suffering from high-grade fever, breathing difficulties, and generalized myalgia, symptoms indicative of a viral respiratory infection.

"This is to certify that I have examined Mr. Mohanlal, a 64-year-old male, who is having complaints of high-grade fever, breathing difficulty, and generalized myalgia. He is suspected to have a viral respiratory infection. He has been advised to take medications with five days of rest and to avoid crowded places," the hospital stated in its official release.

Despite his current health condition, Mohanlal remains active in his professional commitments. Just a day before his diagnosis, the actor confirmed the release date for his much-anticipated film Barroz. The fantasy drama, which has been a long-awaited project for Mohanlal, is particularly significant as it marks his directorial debut.

Barroz tells the story of a 400-year-old spirit tasked with guarding the hidden treasure of Vasco da Gama. The film, set to hit theaters on October 3, aligns with the puja holidays, offering it an optimal release window with no major South Indian film releases until October 10.

In addition to Barroz, Mohanlal has also been busy with the filming of L2: Empuraan, the sequel to his 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who also helmed the original, the sequel is expected to arrive in cinemas early next year.

Mohanlal will also be seen in an extended cameo role in Kannappa, a Telugu mythological movie. The film stars some of the leading stars from across the Indian film industry, including Prabhas and Akshay Kumar.
