Actor Akshay Kumar is all set for his next release Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue after redeeming himself at the box office with OMG 2’s success. The actor will be seen playing the role of Jaswant Singh Gill, a mining engineer who saved 64 trapped miners in the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. He will be reuniting with his Kesari actress Parineeti Chopra in the upcoming survival thriller. On Wednesday, the makers dropped the first motion poster revealing Akshay’s look from the movie.
Taking to his Instagram, Akshay wrote, “In 1989, one man achieved the impossible! Watch the story of Bharat’s true hero with #MissionRaniganj in cinemas on 6th October. Teaser out tomorrow!” In the motion poster, the actor could be seen sporting a turban, a beard and a pair of eyeglasses; while Parineeti’s look is kept under wraps. Well, as soon as the poster was unveiled, netizens’ attention drew first to Akshay’s caption. One of the users noticed that the actor has used Bharat instead of India amid political discussion over name change. “Great Bharat rescue... I see what you did there. “Great Indian rescue ko toh Great Bharat Rescue kar diya par caption mein phir bhi *India's* likh diya,” commented another user.
Mission Raniganj was originally titled Capsule Gill and later The Great Indian Rescue. After contemplating a lot of names for the last few months, the makers rebranded the film as Mission Raniganj which is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. Besides Akshay and Parineeti, the film has an ensemble cast that includes Rajesh Sharma, Anant Mahadevan, Ravi Kishan, Dibyendu Bhattacharya and Gaurav Prateek. Backed by Pooja Entertainment, the film’s teaser is set to arrive tomorrow i.e. September 6. It is set to release in theatres on October 6.
Meanwhile, Akshay was last seen in OMG 2, a sequel to his 2012 film, alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam. Besides Mission Raniganj, the actor has other interesting projects lined up in his kitty. On the other hand, Parineeti will also be seen in Chamkila co-starring Diljit Dosanjh apart from Mission Raniganj.
