Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s upcoming rural emotional drama Meiyazhagan is all set to hit the big screen soon. Directed by 96 fame, acclaimed filmmaker Prem Kumar C, the film stars Karthi, Arvind Swamy, and Sri Divya in the leading roles. The story revolves around two cousins who become arch-enemies. Meiyazhagan's release date

Meiyazhagan is scheduled for a grand release on September 27, 2024. The film will clash with Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor’s pan-Indian spectacle Devara on the big screens. However, Meiyazhagan is expected to have an edge over the Telugu action drama in Tamil Nadu.

The trailer begins with Arvind Swamy’s character taking a trip to his hometown, a village, after a long hiatus. There, he meets Karthi’s character, who is apparently his cousin. Although the two men are opposites in nature, they share a special bond, which unfortunately ends in conflict, leading to their separation. The trailer teases the audience with the question: What caused the conflict, and will they reconcile?

Meiyazhagan's plot

The film follows Arulmozhi (played by Arvind Swamy) as he returns to his hometown after 22 years and reunites with his cousin. Sri Divya plays a pivotal role in the story.

Written and directed by Prem Kumar C, the film stars Karthi and Arvind Swamy, with Sri Divya, Rajkiran, Devadarshini, Ilavarasu, and Karunakaran in supporting roles. Kamal Haasan has lent his vocals to two songs in the movie.

On the technical front, Mahendiran Jayaraju handles the cinematography, R. Govindaraj serves as the editor, Rajeevan handles the production design, Ayyappan is in charge of art direction, and Subhashree Kaarthik Vijay handles the costume design. The film is produced by Karthi’s brother, actor Suriya, along with his wife, actress Jyothika, under the banner of 2D Entertainment.
