As per reports, the scenes were filmed on a well-crafted vintage set at Ramoji Film City, capturing the essence of Visakhapatnam. This phase of filming included many important scenes, high-octane action sequences, and retro-themed songs. The team also announced that the next schedule of the movie is swiftly ongoing in Visakhapatnam. The leading man is said to be taking on one of the most challenging roles of his career and will be seen in multiple looks for the film.

    Matka’s first glimpse

Earlier, on the special occasion of Varun Tej’s birthday in January, the makers released the first glimpse, aka Opening Bracket, of the film. The short teaser showcased a glimpse of the dark and mysterious side of Varun Tej, who plays an underworld mafia leader. Interestingly, the actor only says the word ‘promise’ in the glimpse, which has piqued the hype surrounding the film. Besides Varun Tej, the film also stars Naveen Chandra and Kishore in key roles. Meenakshi Chaudhary is playing the female lead in the movie. The original background score and soundtracks for the film are composed by GV Prakash Kumar.

    More about Matka

Directed by Karun Kumar, Matka is speculated to be inspired by real-life events. According to Telugu reports, the film is based on the real-life betting pioneer Ratan Khetri. Khetri was known for turning 'Matka' (a type of gambling that emerged in Mumbai in 1962) into India’s most popular betting game and developing a nationwide gambling network that lasted decades under his control. Varun Tej will reportedly be essaying the role of the gambling king, with the story fictionalized for commercial appeal.
