The trailer for the upcoming Kannada film Martin was released on Monday. The promo video was earlier screened in select theatres to a rousing response from fans of Dhruva Sarja in Karnataka. With this movie, Dhruva aims to gain pan-India recognition, which seems to be the new goal pursued by ambitious movie stars.

Martin revolves around the titular character, played by Dhruva, and his battle exploits in Pakistan. Martin, clearly on a high-protein diet, is built for war, and he takes the fight right to the doors of the country's sworn enemy. The trailer begins with a top Pakistani police officer flipping out about an Indian committing crimes on Pakistani soil. "Destroy his Indian tattoo along with him," thunders a Pakistani officer.

Martin is brought to a high-security prison filled with presumably the most dangerous criminals. The prisoners are dressed in orange suits, giving a Hollywood-ish feel to the whole prison setup. However, none of the plans to destroy the Indian prisoner work. Martin seems to rain hellfire on the enemy state, destroying them in a no-holds-barred fashion.

Martin promises a grand action spectacle on a scale that the Kannada film industry has not seen before. Based on the trailer, this film is a significant step up for the industry, which could help it achieve the popularity and success that came with the KGF series and Kantara.

If you have followed Dhruva's career, you know his movies are notorious for over-the-top dialogues and action sequences. Martin seems no exception. However, we don't get to hear many high-octane punchlines as the promo is packed with testosterone-fueled battle sequences.

Martin has been in the making for over a year now. The film will be released in all major Indian languages, along with a few foreign languages. Martin's screenplay is written by seasoned filmmaker-actor Arjun Sarja, Dhruva's uncle, and is helmed by AP Arjun.

Martin is due in cinemas on October 11.
