Mammootty-GVM film: Not Nayanthara but THIS popular actress to play the female lead

Ever since the buzz surrounding Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s upcoming collaboration surfaced, fans have been eager to learn more about the iconic director-actor duo’s project. According to popular reports, the film is scheduled to start shooting on June 20, 2024. Reports also suggest that Mollywood superstar Mammootty will be joining the shoot on Thursday. Although the makers have been tight-lipped about key details, it is speculated that a pan-India actress is set to make her Mollywood debut opposite the Malayalam superstar in this film. 

Samantha roped in for GVM-Mammootty film?

According to reports, South India’s heartthrob Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been roped in to play the female lead in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Malayalam directorial. Reports suggest that the actress has replaced Nayanthara, who was initially cast to play opposite the Malayalam superstar. If these speculations are true, the film will mark Samantha’s debut in Malayalam cinema, a highly anticipated event for fans. 

GVM on working with Mammootty

The upcoming film will be helmed by popular Tamil director Gautham Vasudev Menon in his Malayalam directorial debut. The upcoming collaboration is not a surprise as Gautham Vasudev Menon and Mammootty are currently working together on the action flick Bazooka. There is a good chance that the director expressed his desire to work with the Mollywood megastar for his Malayalam directorial debut during Bazooka. 

In the past, the director had expressed his desire to work with Mammootty but mentioned that nothing was finalized. “I am looking to see if I can direct a film next year in Malayalam; I am in discussion with a couple of actors. I really want to work with Mammootty sir and Fahadh Faasil,” the director revealed.

Naveen Bhaskar has penned the screenplay, who is well known for scripting the screenplay for Mammootty’s son and actor Dulquer Salmaan's ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi. 

GVM and Mammootty’s upcoming film Bazooka

On the acting front, GVM is set to play an antagonist opposite Mammootty in the upcoming film directed by newcomer Deeno Dennis. The first-look poster of Gautham Vasudev Menon features the multi-faceted talent in an intense avatar, revealing that the Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa director will play the role of Benjamin Joshua in the movie.
