Mammootty and Vinayakan’s film begins rolling but Malayalam megastar absent from launch event

As announced earlier, megastar Mammootty and Jailer-fame Vinayakan are set to share screen space in an upcoming Malayalam crime thriller. Mammootty’s production house, Mammootty Kampany, which is backing the project, took to their social media handles to announce that the film has been officially launched. Sharing photos from the puja ceremony, the makers wrote, “Commencing our 7th production by Mammootty Kampany! Directed by Jithin K Jose, with a Pooja ceremony at Nagercoil. Starring @mammukka & Vinayakan. Stay tuned for more updates!!!”

Mammootty not spotted in pics

Although several crew members were present for the official launch, leading man Mammootty was missing from the photos. Fans speculate that the actor might be busy with another project, which could explain his absence from the launch event. However, Vinayakan is seen among the crew members at the launch.

Directed by debutant Jithin K Jose, the film marks yet another collaboration between Mammootty and Vinayakan, who have previously worked together in films like Big B, Daddy Cool, Best Actor, and God's Own Cletus.

Mammootty to play the villain

According to earlier reports, the Malayalam megastar is set to essay the role of an antagonist in this film. If the reports are to be believed, Mammootty will play a character with negative shades, while Jailer actor Vinayakan will take on the lead role. An official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited. The makers are currently shooting the first schedule in Nagercoil and are expected to release more updates about the film soon.

The film is rumored to feature an ensemble cast and is described as a psychological crime thriller drama. On the technical side, Kannur Squad fame director-cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj will handle cinematography, with Sushin Shyam composing the original background score and soundtracks. The project is being produced by Mammootty’s banner, Mammootty Kampany, in collaboration with Truth Global Films. This film also marks Mammootty Kampany's seventh production venture.

Interestingly, Prithviraj and Joju George were initially approached for the antagonist's role, which was eventually signed by Mammootty.
