Maidaan Trailer: Ajay Devgn and Gajraj Rao shine in this inspirational sports biographical drama, watch

The trailer of the Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan was finally revealed by the makers. The film has Devgn play the legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who was also hailed as the father of Indian football. He was responsible for bringing Indian football to the forefront globally.

Talking about the same, Ajay’s character fights all obstacles to bring Indian football to the world map. Priyamani plays a supportive wife who believes in her husband’s dreams. However, Gajraj Rao’s character seems to be in shades of grey and does not fully believe whether Devgn will achieve such a mammoth task. Take a look at the same.

Ajay’s character in the trailer hunts down a team of skillful football players from the slums and downtrodden areas of the country. He even grabs some eyeballs while doing so. We see a major callback to the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chak De India as Ajay is seen giving a motivational speech to his players in the locker room. By the looks of it, despite several obstacles, it seems like the determined coach and his team managed to make the entire nation proud.

Maidaan has been directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. It also stars Rudranil Ghosh and Chaitanya Sharma. Earlier the makers also released an endearing teaser of the movie. It had some children playing football on the streets. Their ball reaches Ajay's character who is on the other side of the road. Despite a tram approaching, he kicks the football back to the kids.

Boney Kapoor has bankrolled the film. The journey of the biographical drama to finally see the light of the day today has not been easy. It had to be temporarily shelved owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The set of the film was destroyed by the cyclone Tauktae in May 2021. Maidaan will be released in the theatres on Eid 2024.
