Mahesh Babu expressed his excitement for being part of Disney's iconic film Mufasa: The Lion King.

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is all set to be the voice of Mufasa in the Telugu version of the upcoming Disney entertainer Mufasa: The Lion King. Following the massive success of 2019's live-action The Lion King, the visually spectacular live-action film Mufasa: The Lion King is gearing up for release on December 20, 2024.
The film, which will be released in multiple languages, will now feature the voice of superstar Mahesh Babu, along with other industry veterans Brahmanandam reprising his role as Pumbaa and Ali returning as Timon in the Telugu version. The Telugu trailer is set to be launched on August 26, 2024.
The announcement post read, “SUPERSTAR MAHESH BABU is the Telugu voice of Mufasa in Disney's visually stunning family entertainer #MufasaTheLionKing. Mark your calendars for the Telugu trailer launch on 26th August at 11:07 AM. Catch the movie roaring into theatres on 20th Dec in English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.”
Mahesh Babu on collaboration with Disney
Mahesh Babu expressed his excitement about the collaboration and stated that he has always admired Disney's legacy of blockbuster entertainment and timeless storytelling. He mentioned that the character of Mufasa resonates with him not just as a loving father guiding his son, but also as the supreme king of the jungle, caring for his clan. He also added, “My family means everything to me, and this collaboration with Disney is personally very special as it is an experience I will cherish with my children!”
Meanwhile, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will lend his voice to Mufasa’s character for the Hindi version, with his sons Aryan Khan and AbRam voicing for Simba and young Mufasa, respectively.
About Mufasa: The Lion King
Mufasa: The Lion King, directed by Barry Jenkins, will explore the origins of one of Disney's most iconic characters by introducing Mufasa as an orphaned cub. The film will also feature Taka, a compassionate lion and heir to a royal lineage, as they embark on an epic journey with a group of outcasts.
