Maharaja OTT release date: When and where to stream Vijay Sethupathi’s action thriller

Vijay Sethupathi’s latest blockbuster Maharaja is all set to make its digital debut! The film, which was released on June 14, emerged as the biggest blockbuster Kollywood witnessed this year. Besides Vijay Sethupathi, the movie also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty Natraj in key roles.

The makers of the film have now announced that the Tamil action thriller, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, will be making its OTT debut on Netflix starting from July 12, 2024. The film will be available for streaming in multiple languages including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Maharaja wins big at the box office
As reported earlier, the Vijay Sethupathi-starrer action thriller soared high at the box office ever since it hit the big screens. The movie, which opened to an impressive collection of Rs 4.7 crore, has collected more than Rs 100 crore worldwide. Maharaja performed well in its one-month-long theatrical run at the box office and earned around Rs 69.07 crore India net. The film beat the then-highest Tamil 2024 grosser Aranmanai 4 to emerge as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2024.
Maharaja plot
The film revolves around a barber named Maharaja and his daughter Jyothi, who form a special attachment to a dustbin they affectionately call Lakshmi. However, things go awry when Lakshmi is stolen, leading to Maharaja unravelling dark secrets, and making him go on a mission to attain justice. Leading man Vijay Sethupathi earlier revealed that he chose to do the film due to its ‘incredibly engaging’ screenplay and its ‘twists and turns’. The actor also revealed that the film ‘resonated deeply’ like his previous film Pizza.
Besides the lead cast, the film also features Abhirami, Arul Doss, Munishkanth, Boys Manikandan, Singam Puli, Bharathiraja, Vinod Sagar, and PL Thenappan as part of the supporting cast. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman, music composed by Ajaneesh Loknath, and editing handled by Philomin Raj.
