According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Maharaja made a great collection on its opening day. On its second day, the movie has collected approximately Rs 7.25 crore, bringing its total to Rs 11.95 crore. The film also enjoyed an average Tamil occupancy of 38.35%.
The audiences have generally praised the film for its clever screenplay and stellar performances showcased by the leading man, Vijay Sethupathi. Overall, the film has been garnering massive appreciation from cine-goers, who are raving about the film.

Vijay Sethupathi, who had been lately starring in several antagonist and supporting roles, has made a strong comeback as a lead character in Tamil cinema. In a recent media interaction, the Jawan actor opened up about why he chose Maharaja as his 50th film. “The narrative of Maharaja resonated with me deeply, much like Pizza. The twists and turns in the story are incredibly engaging, and as soon as I heard the director's vision, I knew this had to be my 50th film,” he revealed. The movie revolves around a barber whose world is shattered when his house is robbed, prompting him to seek vengeance.
Helmed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty Natraj in key roles, along with Abhirami, Arul Doss, Munishkanth, Boys Manikandan, Singam Puli, Bharathiraja, Vinod Sagar, and PL Thenappan as part of the supporting cast. The film is jointly produced by Sudhan Sundaram's Passion Studios and Jagdish Palanisamy's The Route banners. On the technical front, the film has cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman, music composed by Ajaneesh Loknath, and editing handled by Philomin Raj.
