Made In India: SS Rajamouli to present biopic on Indian cinema, says its narration moved him emotionally
Titled Made In India, SS Rajamouli's upcoming film will be a magnum opus on a huge scale, which will be helmed by Nitin Kakkar.
After the resounding success of RRR, filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli is back with a new project. The filmmaker on Tuesday took to X to announce his next movie about the birth and rise of Indian cinema. Titled Made In India, his upcoming film will be a magnum opus on a huge scale just like his previous blockbusters. The film will be helmed by Nitin Kakkar and backed by Rajamouli’s son SS Karthikeya and Varun Gupta.
Rajamouli tweeted, "When I first heard the narration, it moved me emotionally like nothing else. Making a biopic is tough in itself, but conceiving one about the FATHER OF INDIAN CINEMA is even more challenging. Our boys are ready and up for it...With immense pride, Presenting MADE IN INDIA (sic).“ He also shared a motion poster which included texts that read, “Indian Cinema has witnessed many biopics. This is a biopic of Indian cinema.” Check out the announcement video here:
Soon after the announcement, the excited netizens spammed the comment section with their reactions. “Congratulations, Bahubali jaisi hit hogi,” wrote a user. “We will have expectations if you are associated, Hope it's worth it all the best to the entire team,” said a second user. Some of the users demanded to change the title to ‘Made In Bharat’. “Please change title to made in Bharat,” read a comment. “‘Made in Bharat" Rajamouli sir,” read another comment.
Made In India will mark SS Karthikeya’s debut as producer. “It's been years since I wanted to fulfill my dream of becoming a producer. The moment has come. MADE IN INDIA… With utmost responsibility, taking this up as a challenge. Cheers to my producing partner, @VarunG0707, and the director, sic,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Rajamouli’s RRR racked up an Oscar win and became the third highest-grossing movie in Indian cinema. The film follows the tale of two legendary revolutionaries and their journey away from home before they started fighting for their country in the 1920s. Up next, the filmmaker is also expected to appear in a cameo role in Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD. However, the official confirmation about the same is yet to be made.
