Lucky Baskhar officially postponed! Dulquer Salmaan-starrer gets new release date
As expected, Lucky Baskhar is now officially postponed to October. Here's what the makers have said about the reason behind the postponement.
Lucky Baskhar
It's official! Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Telugu drama Lucky Baskhar has been postponed to the Diwali weekend. As reported earlier, there were strong indications that the release date would be moved from its initial September 7, 2024, slot to avoid a clash with Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated film The Greatest of All Time. The makers have now confirmed that Lucky Baskhar will be released on October 31, 2024, and have issued a statement explaining the reason for the postponement.
Why was Lucky Baskhar postponed
The makers took to social media handles to reveal the new release date, writing, "Postponing releases can impact social media reputation, but it's essential for our film's quality! #LuckyBaskhar is set to make your Diwali special in theatres worldwide."
They also released an official statement, mentioning that the decision to postpone was due to their focus on improving the dubbing quality across all languages. Lucky Baskhar will now be released on October 31, 2024.
Dubbing work or fear of clash?
While the official reason for the postponement is the extensive work required for dubbing, many speculate that it was a deliberate move to avoid a major clash with the Tamil biggie The GOAT at the box office. For the unversed, Thalapathy Vijay’s highly anticipated film The Greatest of All Time is scheduled for a worldwide release on September 5, 2024. Considering Vijay’s massive fanbase in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu, releasing the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer during the same week could potentially affect its business.
Notably, Lucky Baskhar is a film Dulquer has high hopes for, especially after the disappointing performance of his last Malayalam outing, King of Kotha (2023). Thus, postponing the release to October 31, 2024, seems like an ideal strategy.
