    Harish Kalyan is all set to play a gully cricketer in his next film. The makers of his upcoming movie, Lubber Pandhu, recently released the trailer on their social media pages. Director Mari Selvaraj unveiled the trailer, writing, “Time for cricketainment. Happy to launch the trailer of #LubberPandhu.” Starring Harish Kalyan and Attakathi Dinesh, the film is slated for release on September 20, 2024. This movie also marks the maiden collaboration between Harish Kalyan and Attakathi Dinesh. Notably, the title Lubber Pandhu originates from the local Chennai slang which refers to 'rubber ball'.

    The trailer introduces Attakathi Dinesh’s character, known as ‘Gethu,’ a popular gully cricketer in his town who is considered by the locals to be better than MS Dhoni. On the other hand, Harish Kalyan’s character, Anbu, is also renowned as the best among his peers. When Harish’s character falls in love with Attakathi Dinesh’s daughter, an ego clash ensues between the two, as they compete to prove who is the better cricketer. The movie promises a mix of drama and comedy, with cricket as the central theme, and is expected to resonate with Tamil audiences, who have already enjoyed two major cricket-based films this year—Lal Salaam and Blue Star.

    The upcoming Tamil cricket-based drama is directed by debutant filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu. In addition to Harish Kalyan and Attakathi Dinesh, actresses Swasika and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy play the female leads. The film, which focuses on street or gully cricket, is a light-hearted emotional drama. The movie also features music composed by Sean Roldan, cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman, and editing by G. Madan. As per reports, the OTT rights for the film have been acquired by Disney+ Hotstar, and it will be available for streaming on the digital platform after its theatrical release. 

    Harish Kalyan, who was last seen in the critically acclaimed film Parking, is hoping to continue his winning streak with this upcoming movie.
