It is interesting to note that Lokesh Kanagaraj began his filmmaking career with the short film Acham Thavir. The movie got him awards for Best Director, Best Film, and Best Actor at the Clubace Film Festival. He then made his feature film directorial debut with Maanagaram.
Following this, he introduced the industry to the first installment of the LCU with Kaithi, which starred Karthi, Narain, Arjun Das, and Harish Uthaman. In 2022, he roped in superstar Kamal Haasan in the second installment of the LCU, Vikram, which saw him create the LCU franchise. The director then helmed the third LCU project film with Thalapathy Vijay in Leo, which also earned him several accolades. While the LCU follows the conflict between law enforcement officers and dangerous drug cartels led by powerful crime lords, the short film will detail the origins of officers and vigilantes and what caused them to rebel against the drug mafia.
