Prithviraj and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer, L2: Empuraan, is undoubtedly one of the most awaited films that Malayali audiences are awaiting to watch on the big screen. Although the makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding the film's release, the latest reports suggest that they are aiming for a 2025 release. Here’s what the latest updates reveal:

L2 Empuraan to have a March 2025 release?

According to sources, the makers are planning to release the Mohanlal-starring gangster action drama L2: Empuraan on March 27, 2025. Reports indicate that there are still a few more shooting schedules to be completed. Earlier, the art director of L2: Empuraan, Mohan Das, confirmed that filming was underway for the Mohanlal starrer and mentioned that the Lucifer sequel was initially scheduled for a theatrical release in the first quarter of 2024, might be released on March 28, 2025. However, with the latest speculations pointing to March 27, 2025, as the confirmed release date, we may have to wait for an official update from the makers.

Deepak Dev on Prithviraj Sukumaran crafting an explosive action thriller

Composer Deepak Dev had earlier praised the production quality of the L2: Empuraan sequel, revealing that it had exceeded his expectations. He noted that Prithviraj's approach to the stunt sequences was mind-blowing, as the actor-turned-filmmaker opted to use real cars for crash scenes instead of relying on CGI. The composer was impressed by the spot-edited footage, which looked as polished as the final cuts, with stunning color grading. He expressed excitement for audiences to experience the film on the big screen.

Directed by Prithviraj, L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster political action thriller Lucifer. The sequel will see Mohanlal return as Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi Ab'raam, an underworld crime boss. Along with the lead actor, the film will feature Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arjun Das, Sharaf U Dheen, and Shine Tom Chacko in key roles.
