Karthi to work with director Nalan Kumarasamy after Ponniyin Selvan 2

According to a new report, Karthi will be working with director Nalan Kumarasamy for his project. The actor is currently filming his 25th movie 'Japan' directed by Raju Murugan.

Director Nalan Kumarasamy is known for directing hit movies like Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, he also wrote the script for the 2019 critical and commercially sucessfull movie Super Deluxe.

2022 was a great year at the box office for the actor who began the year with the masala action movie Viruman and ended the year on high with the action thriller Sardar, which became one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies of 2022 and has a sequel in early development.

However, the main highlight of the year was his role as Vallavaraiyan Vanthiyathevan in director Mani Ratnam's magnum Opus Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1.

The movie is based on the classic 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan written by Kalki Krishnamurthy and focuses on the rise to power of Rajaraja and the Chola dynasty during the 10th century.

Ponniyen Selvan was a huge critical and commercial success becoming the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2022 and the fifth highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time with a total box office collection of 500 crores.

Ponniyin Selven boasts of an ensemble main cast that includes Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Prabhu.

The second installment in the franchise will hit theaters on April 28th, 2023.

Karthi will also be appearing in the sequel to Kaithi, which is set in director Lokesh Kanakaraj's cinematic universe, the second installment in the franchise which starred Kamal Hassan in the lead was a massive success and will be followed up by Thalapathy 67 marking Vijay's entry into the franchise.

As for Karthi's 'Japan', the actor will be acting opposite Anu Emmanuel, with Vijay Milton handling the cinematography, National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar will be handling the music and Philomin Raj is in charge of the editing.
