Karthi to play a die-hard fan of THIS cricketer in Meiyazhagan? New poster drops major hint

Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s upcoming film Meiyazhagan is gearing up for its grand release on September 27, 2024. Ahead of its theatrical debut, the makers have begun promoting the film, starting with an audio launch event scheduled for August 30, 2024, in Chennai. 

Karthi to play a Dhoni fan?

The makers took to their social media pages to share the new update and released a poster featuring the lead actors from the film. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Karthi’s character has a popular cricketer’s name tattooed on him. 

The cricketer is none other than M.S. Dhoni. In the new poster, it is revealed that Karthi’s character has 'Dhoni' tattooed on his wrist in Tamil. This major hint suggests that the character might be a hardcore fan of the star cricketer. However, an official update is still awaited. 

All about Karthi’s new film Meiyazhagan

 Meiyazhagan stars Karthi and Arvind Swamy and is directed and written by C. Prem Kumar. It is touted to be a family drama. The film revolves around two friends who become arch-enemies. The first and second-look posters exude vintage vibes, with a backdrop reminiscent of old Tamil films. Earlier, the makers also shared a few heartwarming photos featuring Karthi and Arvind Swamy seated together in a still from the film. Actress Sri Divya, who plays a pivotal role in the movie, is also seen in a rural avatar in the new stills; she is pictured next to a bull at a festival. Karthi is seen in a rural look, hinting that the film will be a memorable rural drama. 

Sri Divya to play Karthi’s sister in Meiyazhagan?

According to reports, actress Sri Divya has been cast as Karthi’s sister in the film. Along with Sri Divya, Meiyazhagan is also speculated to feature Tamil serial actress Swathi Konde. An official confirmation from the team regarding this is awaited. 

On the technical front, the film’s cinematography is handled by Sathyan Sooryan, with Govind Vasantha scoring the music. Meiyazhagan is produced by Karthi’s brother and actor Suriya, along with his wife and actress, Jyothika.
