Filmmaker Karan Johar certainly left fans upset with his latest announcement of ending its popular chat show Koffee with Karan. While fans started to react to the news, the latest report suggests that the celebrity chat show will not be discontinued, but will now stream on Disney + Hoststar.

According to a source close to Indian Express, the announcement was a marketing ploy and the show will now be streaming on the OTT giant, Disney+ Hotstar .

Earlier on Wednesday, Karan took to her social media handle and made an important announcement that reads, “Koffee With Karan has been a part of my life, and yours, for 6 seasons now. I would like to think we have made an impact and even found our place in pop culture history. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that Koffee With Karan will not be returning.”

The news left Twitterati upset and they shared their thoughts reminiscing the popular chat show. While one user wrote: "KWK was and always will be an iconic guilty pleasure for many. "End of an era. Koffee With Karan,” another added. “Koffee With Karan has ended and will not be returning. Sad piece of news. One of the shows I always enjoyed watching since young. Welpp," wrote another fan of the show.

The announcement came days after the speculation that suggested a new season of the chat show was on the way. It was also speculated that newlyweds Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt would be the first guest on the show. However, if the recent reports are to be believed, the fans can still wait to watch the new season of the chat show.

Meanwhile, Koffee With Karan first premiered on 19 November 2004 on Star World. After running six glorious seasons, the show concluded on 17 March 2019. Karan, however, had hosted special episodes, Koffee Shots with Disney+ Hotstar’s Empire in 2021. He later invited Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan , in a special episode titled Koffee Shots With Atrangi Re . The two episodes are exclusively streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
