Kanguva, Suriya 45 and more, here are Suriya films to look forward to in the coming years

Tamil star Suriya, who is currently gearing up for the release of his much-awaited fantasy action drama Kanguva, is now on a signing spree with a handful of projects in the lineup. The actor, who is yet to have his first theatrical film after a two-year hiatus, recently signed his latest project with comedian-turned-filmmaker RJ Balaji, which will be the Tamil star’s 45th film in his career. Before gearing up to watch the actor's magnum opus Kanguva on the big screen, here is a list of all the films Suriya has signed to be a part of:

Kanguva (Release: November 14, 2024)

Directed by Siruthai Siva, Kanguva is a fantasy period action drama starring Suriya, along with Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in their Tamil debut. The movie follows a brave police officer on a mission to fight crime but discovers a hidden link to an old betrayal. The film promises exciting action, emotional moments, and a mystery that connects events from the past to the present. Touted to be one of the most expensive Indian films, it is scheduled to hit the big screens this Children’s Day.

Suriya 44

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Suriya 44 marks the maiden collaboration between the acclaimed filmmaker and the Tamil star. Touted to be a gangster drama, the film features an ensemble cast, including Pooja Hegde, Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Sujith Shankar in key roles. The movie is currently in its production stage.

Vaadi Vaasal

Directed by acclaimed director Vetrimaaran, Vaadi Vaasal is a rural drama based on CS Chellapa’s Tamil novel of the same name. The film deals with Jallikattu, or bullfighting, a tradition rooted in Tamil heritage. While the film is led by Suriya, it will also feature director-turned-actor Ameer Sultan and Andrea Jeremiah in key roles. The movie is yet to begin production.

Karna

Suriya will soon make his full-fledged Hindi debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s mythological drama Karna. According to reports, Suriya will play the role of Karna, the brave warrior prince and the elder half-brother of the Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata. Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman is said to be in discussions to score the music for the film, while Janhvi Kapoor is speculated to play Vrushali, Karna’s wife. However, the film is yet to be announced.

Suriya 45

RJ Balaji will soon begin helming his next project with Suriya, tentatively titled Suriya 45. Touted to be an adventure action drama, the film will have A.R. Rahman scoring the music, who will be reuniting with Suriya after a hiatus of nine years.
