Kangana Ranaut says Javed Akhtar provoked her to commit suicide for refusing to apologize to Hrithik Roshan

Kangana Ranaut recently appeared before the Mumbai court in connection to the defamation case filed against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar . The actress recorded her statement in the presence of her sister Rangoli Chandel and lawyer Rizwan Siddiquee. She had reportedly stated that Akhtar threatened her after she refused to apologize to Hrithik Roshan .

On Monday, Ranaut appeared before the metropolitan magistrate court. In her statement, she also claimed that Akhtar had provoked her to commit suicide during her public dispute with co-star Hrithik Roshan. "We will not take time to put up impostors, then it will be open to the public to know that your affair was not with Hrithik but with impostors, then your face will be blackened, there will be so much infamy in the public that you will have no other way except suicide. We have evidence, they have all the ministries, apologize and save yourself. A girl from a good family will be drowned in shame. If you have little shame to save your honor, then don't insist," she said as per India Today reports.

Akhtar filed the defamation case against Ranaut alleging that she made baseless and defamatory comments against him in a television interview. During the interview, Ranaut had called the lyricist, a member of the ‘suicide gang’ of Bollywood, who had pushed ‘outsiders’ like her to commit suicide. While, Ranaut in her defense, claimed that Akhtar had forced her to tender a written apology to Hrithik.

Earlier, Akhtar submitted in the court that he tried to advise and pacify her to settle issues with Hrithik. However, she did not listen to him and decided to take the issue as per her choice. Later, he changed the topics and shared pleasantries with her, and saw her off. For the unversed, back in 2016, Hrithik filed a lawsuit against Ranaut, asking her to apologize for damaging his reputation through her controversial statement. She called him ‘silly ex’ and therefore he threatened to sue her for defamation if she didn’t comply. Later, Kangana responded with a legal notice, denying the charges and alleging criminal intimidation.
