Telugu superstar Prabhas' latest movie, Kalki 2898 AD, has become the biggest hit of 2024. At the moment, there is no other upcoming film in Indian cinema poised to overtake its global earnings in ticket sales this year. After totally dominating the box office, Kalki 2898 AD is now gearing up for its streaming release soon.

Unlike most South Indian movies, Kalki 2898 AD deferred its streaming release in favour of an extended theatrical exhibition. While most new South movies debut on streaming within four weeks after their initial theatrical release, Kalki 2898 AD doubled the gap between its theatre and OTT release.

According to industry sources, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to start streaming by August 23. An official confirmation on the same is awaited.

Kalki 2898 AD will be available on two different streaming platforms. While all the South Indian versions, including the original Telugu version, will be available on Amazon Prime Video, the Hindi version will debut on Netflix.

Kalki 2898 AD exceeded expectations in terms of its box office performance and gave Prabhas the much-awaited confidence boost. Since the global success of Baahubali 2, Prabhas is expected to constantly deliver similar mammoth blockbusters. In the process, he made a few poor creative choices leading to movies that were big disappointments both critically and commercially.

Kalki 2898 AD, however, became a bonafide blockbuster, proving all naysayers wrong. The film has grossed more than Rs 1110 crore from its worldwide ticket sales, making it the second movie in Prabhas' career to breach the Rs 1000 crore mark at the box office.

Kalki 2898 AD, written and directed by Nag Ashwin, is a genre-bending magnum opus that blends elements of sci-fi with popular Indian mythological stories. It draws its main inspiration from the Mahabharata and follows events that happen in a dystopian backdrop. The film also stars Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone.
