The long-awaited day has arrived! The official trailer of Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s upcoming sci-fi action thriller is here! The makers of the magnum opus took to their social media handles to unveil the epic trailer, and it's worth all the hype!

The extravagant trailer begins with a voiceover that calls Kashi the first city on earth, while a young boy’s voiceover says that it's now the last city on earth. The trailer then showcases that the distant land of Kashi now has all the amenities that humans once enjoyed—like food, water, and shelter—while people from faraway lands are seen suffering and deprived of these necessities. Everyone is seen bowing down to the supreme leader, played by Saswata Chatterjee, who considers himself above all beings.

The trailer then introduces us to Deepika Padukone, who is carrying a child destined to change the future. Amitabh Bachchan’s Ashwatthama is there to help Deepika’s character. The supreme leader, now aware of the potential threat, sets out to capture her. Prabhas, who plays Bhairava, appears in a cool and stylish role, setting out to save the soon-to-be mother. The intriguing trailer presents a massive reimagining of the Mahabharata set in a dystopian era. We also get a sneak peek of actress Shobana, and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan as Kali in the glimpse.

Not Kamal Haasan but this Bengali actor plays antagonist opposite Prabhas in Kalki 2898 AD

While earlier reports indicated that Kamal Haasan would be essaying the role of the antagonist in Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s magnum opus, the new trailer has now revealed that Bengali actor Saswata Chatterjee will be playing the main antagonist in this film. The actor, who was last seen in the Disney+ Hotstar web series The Night Manager, is said to be playing a pivotal role as the antagonist in the sci-fi action thriller. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan will be making a cameo appearance, with his full portions featured only in the second installment of the Kalki franchise.

The Nag Ashwin directorial is all set to have a worldwide release on June 27, 2024.
