It's finally 'Kalki Day!' The most eagerly awaited day for many cinema lovers across not just India but the world in 2024 is here with the release of Kalki 2898 AD. Director Nag Ashwin's film, which hit the big screens today, is being debated heavily online, with fan reactions and audience reviews. The Telugu sci-fi spectacle starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, among other big stars, weaves together elements of mythology and fantasy, narrating the story of the end of the world.

According to the first-day-first-show reviews, many people have praised Kalki 2898 AD's visual effects, commending Nag Ashwin for pulling off a cinematic marvel. One user wrote, "Epic! What a world you've created, Nagi. Kudos to your vision of blending mythology & modernity, keeping all hooked from start to finish with surprises and awe moments! Visuals, supporting cast, music, actions & everything adds to it."

Many users hailed the director for creating a visual and narrative masterpiece and praised the performances of the lead cast. One user wrote, "#Kalki2898AD Review: Excellent big-scale epic sci-fi drama! This movie is different, may not be a regular Telugu movie, but definitely worth a watch! Sets up perfectly for future parts! Rating 4/5."

Calling the screenplay the main hero of the film, viewers appreciated Nag Ashwin for building an Avenger-like universe through the combination of Mahabharata and a dystopian world. One user commented, "#Kalki — Good concept by @nagashwin7. Grand visuals & CG work. Visually and in terms of filmmaking, it's top-notch for an Indian film. Starting, interval, climax & second half lead SUPERB. Decent first half followed by a better second half. Big B!! Good performances by Prabhas, Deepika, and Shobhana. However, some users, mostly Rebel Star Prabhas’ fans, were disappointed with his limited screen time and expressed their disappointment at the makers for not hyping up his character. Many early reviews indicate that the film is focused more on the narrative and not on building hype around Prabhas’ character.

Amitabh Bachchan’s apology to Prabhas’ fans!

Kalki 2898 AD promises to tell a futuristic tale that blends mythology and fantasy. In the film, Amitabh Bachchan is seen raging against Prabhas in an epic battle. He recently reflected on his scenes with the Telugu star.

The Bollywood superstar recalled when director Nag Ashwin first approached him for the role. "When Nagi came to talk to me about this, he just brought a picture, a visual of what my character is going to look like and what Prabhas is going to look like. And I was this huge guy who’s shoving off Prabhas. And all the fans of Prabhas, please, you know, please excuse me. Main haath jod ke maafi maang raha hoon (I fold my hands and apologise to you). Don’t massacre me after you see what I do," Bachchan said.

However, Prabhas quickly reassured that his fans loved him as well. “They are all your fans too,” the actor said.
